Capitol Hill wall lamp - 2 light sources - Painted natural brass Elstead

Capitol Hill is a two-light wall light by Kichler, distributed by Elstead Lighting, shaped as a classic wall candelabra. A bent rod leaves a round, stepped wall plate and forms two U-shaped loops, and two upward-facing candle sleeves stand on a horizontal bar finished with ball ends. The whole fitting is steel painted in a natural brass colour — the manufacturer calls the finish Painted Natural Brass.

Size and installation

The wall light is 27 cm high and 24.7 cm wide, and projects 15.6 cm from the wall — worth comparing with the width of the passage if it is going into a hallway or beside stairs. The wall plate is 12.7 cm in diameter and covers the junction box. The fitting weighs 0.83 kg.

It is a class I fitting, so it must be connected to a protective earth conductor. The manufacturer intends it for indoor use only.

Bulbs and light

There are two E14 lampholders, each for a bulb of up to 40 W. Bulbs are not included. There are no shades either — the bulbs stay exposed, so their shape is part of the look; the manufacturer recommends E14 LED candle bulbs, sold separately, for these sleeves. For warm evening light in a living room or bedroom, 2700 K is the usual choice.

The fitting works with dimmable bulbs: dimming needs two dimmable E14 bulbs and a dimmer in the circuit.

Style and range

Candle sleeves, bent loops and ball finials make a classic design that the manufacturer pairs with both traditional and modern interiors. The Capitol Hill range also includes 6- and 12-light chandeliers in the same finish, and the wall light comes in black and brushed nickel as well.
