Capitol Hill is a six-light chandelier from Kichler, distributed in Europe by Elstead Lighting. Six curved arms spring from a central column and end in exposed candle-style lampholders, and the whole fitting hangs on a chain below a round ceiling pan. The frame is steel painted in a natural brass colour (Painted Natural Brass) – a paint finish, not solid brass.
How big it is and where to hang it
The chandelier is 73 cm in diameter and the body is 55.9 cm high. The overall drop adjusts from 65.8 to 192.2 cm using 121.9 cm of chain, shortened during installation. Compare the 73 cm diameter with the width of your table or room; over a table, hang it so the lowest point of the arms sits 70–80 cm above the top.
The ceiling pan is 12.7 cm across and covers a standard junction box. The chandelier weighs 4.24 kg. It is a Class I fitting, so the circuit must include an earth conductor.
What light it gives
The chandelier has six E14 lampholders, each taking a bulb of up to 40 W. No bulbs are included – you need to buy six. The lampholders have no shades, so the bulbs are fully visible and shape the look of the fitting; the manufacturer recommends clear, dimmable E14 LED candle bulbs, sold separately.
The fitting is compatible with dimmable bulbs: to adjust brightness you need a dimmer and bulbs marked as dimmable. Exposed bulbs shine in every direction, lighting both the table below the chandelier and the ceiling above it.
Which interiors it suits
Kichler calls Capitol Hill a classic design that works with both traditional and modern décor: candle-style holders and plain curved arms without ornament. It suits a dining table, a hallway and hotel interiors. The family also includes black and brushed nickel versions, a twelve-light chandelier and a two-light wall light.
