DELONZA wall lamp by Luces Exclusivas LE45685 gold

The DELONZA LE45685 is a wall light built from a vertical opal glass tube set in a gold-finished steel bracket. The shade extends as far above the bracket as below it, so it lights the wall evenly upwards and downwards.

How much wall it takes

The fitting is 45 cm tall and the shade about 6 cm across — a narrow vertical band of light rather than a spreading luminaire. The mounting plate measures 11 cm and the lamp projects 11.9 cm from the wall; compare that second figure with the clear width beside a basin, or with how far a cabinet door swings out.

A 45-by-6 cm proportion means this is normally mounted in pairs at the sides of a mirror rather than above it: light then reaches the face from two directions and casts no shadow under the eyes and chin.

What the light is like

The source is permanently built in: a 15 W LED module giving 1337 lm, clearly more than an old 60 W incandescent bulb produced. One of these serves as the main light in a smaller bathroom, and a pair at the mirror gives noticeably more than a typical fitting above it.

4000 K is neutral white — without the yellow cast of warm light, so skin tone and make-up in the mirror read close to how they look in daylight. The module cannot be swapped or retrofitted, so colour and brightness are fixed; on the other hand nothing has to be bought separately, because the source is included.

Build and where it may go

Bracket and plate are steel in a gold finish, the shade is glass. An IP44 rating means protection against splashing water from any direction, so mounting in a bathroom outside the direct spray of a shower and outside the bath itself. The manufacturer intends it for bathrooms and other rooms with raised humidity.

The same fitting is also made in black, as LE45684, which lets the finish be matched to the taps and handles in the room.
