Divine is a Quoizel wall light distributed by Elstead Lighting: a rectangular polished-chrome backplate carrying two shades built from vertical slats of cut K9 crystal glass, pinned at the top and bottom around the lamp. The cut slats refract the light, and the chrome plate reflects it back together with the sparkle of the glass.
Size and where it fits
The fitting is 34.3 cm wide, 15.2 cm high and projects 15.2 cm from the wall. Compare that width with the mirror or basin it will sit above — a light narrower than the mirror leaves a clear margin on either side. It weighs 2 kg.
The IP44 rating means protection against splashing water from any direction, and the manufacturer specifies it for interiors, bathrooms included. It is a Class I fitting, so it must be connected to the protective earth conductor in the wall box. It runs on 230 V mains.
Lamps and light colour
The wall light has two G9 lampholders, and two 3 W G9 LED lamps are included. Each gives 300 lm, about 600 lm in total — less than an old 60 W bulb, which suits lighting a face at a mirror or adding accent light rather than serving as the only light in a large room. At 3000 K the light is a warm white.
The lamps are replaceable, so years from now you buy new G9 lamps rather than a new fitting. The fitting is compatible with dimmable lamps: to dim it you need lamps marked as dimmable and a suitable dimmer.
Where it belongs
It is intended for use above a mirror, in the bathroom and in the dining room. The style is glamour: mirror-bright chrome and cut glass, with no matt surfaces. Polished chrome is easy to pair with other chrome items in the same room, such as bathroom taps.
