Florence 800A/BC Outdoor Chain Pendant Light, Copper Patina, E27, IP54 – Norlys

The Florence 800A/BC is an outdoor pendant light hung on a steel chain, with a bell-shaped shade and a clear, drop-shaped diffuser. The body is cast aluminium, powder-coated in a copper patina finish.

How big it is and where to hang it

The shade is 25 cm across, and the whole light measures 95 cm from the ceiling canopy to the bottom tip of the diffuser. Of that, 65 cm is the canopy and chain. Compare this figure with the ceiling height of your carport, gazebo or balcony: below the lower edge of the diffuser there should still be room to walk underneath comfortably.

The light hangs from a ceiling hook and weighs 2.7 kg. The terminals take conductors up to 2 x 2.5 mm², and the cable gland accepts a round sheathed cable 6 to 10 mm in diameter — worth checking against the existing installation before the fitting goes up.

What kind of light it gives

The lampholder is E27 and takes an LED bulb of up to 9 W. The bulb is not included, and the manufacturer allows an A55–A60 shape, the classic pear bulb — a wider decorative globe will not fit under the diffuser. The bulb is user-replaceable without a service visit, so you choose its colour and brightness yourself.

The polycarbonate diffuser is clear and UV-stabilised, so the bulb remains visible through it. According to the manufacturer about 18% of the light goes upwards and brightens the ceiling or soffit above the lamp; the rest spreads downwards and to the sides.

Where it works

IP54 means protection against dust and splashing water from any direction, so the light can hang outdoors: on a terrace or balcony, in a gazebo or in the garden. The manufacturer specifies an operating temperature range of -20 to +45°C. Protection class II means the fitting does not need an earth conductor.

The manufacturer describes this design as classic: chain suspension, a bell shade and a drop-shaped diffuser follow the form of traditional outdoor lanterns. The Florence series offers the same model in other finishes as well.
