NORLYS Firenze 800A/WH outdoor pendant light, white, chain-hung, E27, IP54

The Firenze 800A/WH is a NORLYS outdoor pendant light hung on a chain, with a wide, flared bell-shaped shade and a clear drop-shaped lens beneath it. The body is cast aluminium powder-coated in white (RAL 9003), and the steel chain is finished the same way. The manufacturer describes it as a classically designed luminaire for gardens and terraces.

Dimensions and how it hangs

The shade is 25 cm in diameter. From the fixing point to the bottom tip of the lens the lamp measures 95 cm: 65 cm of that is the ceiling rose and chain, and about 30 cm is the luminaire itself. Subtract those 95 cm from the height of the ceiling, canopy or pergola beam it will hang from — the result is how high the bottom of the lamp sits above the terrace or path.

The luminaire hangs from a ceiling hook. The supply cable goes into terminals for up to 2 × 2.5 mm², and a round cable 6–10 mm in diameter is passed through the gasket — piercing the gasket with a tool reduces the luminaire's sealing. The manufacturer recommends installation by a qualified electrician.

Which bulb and how much light

The lamp has an E27 socket and takes an A55–A60 LED bulb of up to 9 W and up to 110 mm long. The bulb is user-replaceable once the power is off, so the colour and brightness of the light come down to the bulb you choose: around 800 lm matches an old 60 W incandescent, and 2700–3000 K is warm, slightly yellowish light.

The clear UV-stabilised polycarbonate lens does not diffuse the light, so the bulb is visible through it and its shape becomes part of how the lamp looks. According to the manufacturer's photometric data, 18% of the light goes upwards and the rest downwards and to the sides — the lamp lights the area beneath it and gently brightens the canopy above.

Use outdoors

IP54 means protection against dust and against water splashed from any direction, so the lamp can hang outdoors: over a terrace or balcony, in a pergola, or at the entrance to a hotel or restaurant. The manufacturer gives an ambient temperature range of -20 to +45°C. It is a Class II luminaire, so it needs no protective earth conductor, and it runs on 220–240 V.

The Firenze range also includes a wall light, a garden bollard and a lamp post in the same form, and the 800A/BL version is black — several luminaires from one line can be combined around the house.
