FOURTY S is a single-light pendant shaped as a narrow steel tube 4 cm across and 12.3 cm high, hung on a black cord. The body is painted silky grey P026 RAL 7044, and the tube is open at the bottom, so the light goes straight down in a narrow cone.
Dimensions and suspension
The canopy is a cylinder 5.5 cm across and 7.5 cm high — it covers the installation box and little more, because the whole fitting is meant to be barely noticeable at the ceiling. Maximum suspension is 130 cm; that is how much cord comes with it, and it is the length to compare with your own ceiling height and with how far above a worktop you want the light to hang.
The fitting is mounted on a fixing bridge. Shortening the suspension is reserved by the manufacturer for a qualified electrician. It is protection class I, so the installation must carry an earth conductor. The box holds the fitting plus the user and mounting instructions.
What bulb it takes
The fitting takes one replaceable GU10 lamp in the R35 reflector size, up to 10 W, and accepts LED lamps only. The bulb is not included, so you choose the colour and the output yourself — that decides whether the lamp lights a worktop or picks out a picture on the wall.
The lamp is changed through the One Click system: no tools, and without taking the fitting off the ceiling. At a 130 cm drop that matters, because the suspension does not have to be taken apart at every change.
Build and where it works
Tube and canopy are CNC-machined steel with a fine-textured lacquer that stands up to scuffing and heat better than a smooth coat. The fitting is made in Poland, in Siemianowice.
The narrow, unornamented body is a modern, minimalist shape that does not compete with the rest of the ceiling. The manufacturer intends it for the living room, bedroom, kitchen and dining room, and also for offices, studies, hotels and restaurants — anywhere the light should fall on one surface rather than fill a room.
