FOURTY XL 10897 is a surface-mounted ceiling luminaire shaped as a slim tube 110 cm long and 4 cm across, finished in brass. The tube is closed at the top and open at the bottom β all of the light leaves through its lower end, straight down.
How far below the ceiling it reaches
The tube fixes directly to the ceiling and drops rigidly by 110 cm. This is not a pendant on an adjustable cable, so the length cannot be shortened during installation: measure 110 cm down from your ceiling and check what ends up under the lower end of the fitting. For comparison β over a dining table top at 75 cm, the bottom of the tube would only reach the table in a room lower than 185 cm.
At 4 cm across, the fitting covers little more of the ceiling than a standard installation box. The same form exists in the FOURTY family in 75 and 90 cm lengths as well, so several pieces at different heights can be grouped over one worktop.
Which lamp to buy for it
The fitting takes one lamp with a GU10 cap in the R35 format. The manufacturer states the maximum as "10W only LED" β LED lamps only, because the closed metal tube will not carry away the heat of a halogen filament. R35 means a reflector 35 mm across; the more common GU10 R50 is 15 mm wider and will not go into this tube.
No lamp is included, so you choose the light colour and brightness yourself, and because it is replaceable you swap the lamp rather than the whole fitting years later. The narrow, long tube aims the light at a single point beneath it rather than across the room.
Where it may be installed
The manufacturer designates the fitting for indoor use only, and the IP20 rating confirms it β there is no protection against moisture or dust. Supply is 220β230 V at 50/60 Hz. Protection class II means no earth conductor has to be connected, so the fitting also works on an older two-core installation. FOURTY XL is made in Poland.
