Fusion 3-light semi-flush ceiling light E27 – painted natural brass, opal glass – Feiss / Elstead

Fusion is a semi-flush ceiling light by Feiss (Generation Lighting), distributed by Elstead Lighting. A round ceiling plate holds a ring on several vertical rods, and the ring carries a ribbed opal glass shade with a glass diffuser underneath. The steel frame is painted in a natural brass colour — a painted finish, not solid brass.

Dimensions and installation

The light is 34.3 cm in diameter and 22.9 cm high, measured from the ceiling to the lower edge of the diffuser. Subtract that figure from your own ceiling height: that is how much space under the ceiling the fitting takes up. A semi-flush sits lower than a flat ceiling light but has no drop like a pendant, so it suits rooms where a pendant would hang too low.

The fitting weighs 3.5 kg and is for indoor use only. It is class I, so it needs an earth conductor connected in the ceiling box.

Bulbs and light

Inside there are three E27 lampholders, and the manufacturer allows a maximum of 40 W on each. Bulbs are not included, so you choose the brightness and colour of the light yourself — three E27 LED bulbs of about 800 lm each give as much light together as three old 60 W bulbs. For bedrooms and dining rooms most people choose 2700–3000 K, a warm, slightly yellow light.

The opal glass diffuses light both through the side shade and through the base, so the bulbs are not visible directly and the light spreads softly sideways and downwards. The fitting can be dimmed if you use bulbs marked as dimmable and a suitable dimmer.

Which interiors it suits

Brass-coloured rings and rods combined with white glass give a modern classic style — a classic framed outline on a simple cylindrical body. The fitting is intended for bedrooms and dining rooms. The Fusion series also includes one- and two-light wall lights, a flush ceiling light, pendants and versions in a Grecian Bronze finish.
