Fusion is a large three-light pendant by Feiss (Generation Lighting), distributed by Elstead Lighting. A round frame of steel painted in a natural brass colour wraps a drum of ribbed opal glass, closed at the bottom by a glass diffuser. The frame hangs from a rod that ends in a stepped, geometric motif with an art deco feel.
Size and hanging height
The shade is 53.3 cm in diameter and 31.8 cm high β a size to compare with the width of your table or the free space below the ceiling. Six rods come in the box: five of 30.5 cm and one of 15.2 cm. How many you use sets the drop, which ranges from 38.1 to 175.3 cm and is fixed during installation.
Over a dining table, whose top usually sits at 75 cm, the lower edge of the shade is normally hung 70β80 cm above the tabletop; the rod range allows that even in tall rooms. The pendant weighs 5.8 kg, so on a suspended ceiling it needs fixing to the load-bearing structure.
Bulbs and light
Inside are three E27 lampholders, each for a bulb of up to 40 W. Bulbs are not included, so you choose the colour yourself β 2700β3000 K, a warm white, is the usual choice over a table. The opal glass sides and the base diffuser hide the bulbs from every angle, so the light comes out diffused and does not dazzle people at the table.
The fitting works with dimmable bulbs: dimming needs dimmable E27 bulbs and a dimmer in the circuit. It is a class I fitting, so it must be connected to a protective earth conductor.
Where it fits
The manufacturer intends the pendant for the dining room, above the table. The stepped frame detail and the horizontal rings around the glass are art deco elements, and the manufacturer pairs Fusion with both traditional and modern interiors. The range also includes wall lights, a flush and a semi-flush ceiling light in the same finish, plus versions in Grecian Bronze.
