Hollis is a two-light wall light: a horizontal arm in Heritage Brass on an oval wall plate, with two clear seeded-glass globes below it, each wrapped in a brass ring. It is a Hinkley design, distributed by Elstead Lighting, that takes its cue from the Art Deco lights of the 1920s.
Size and where it can go
The fitting is 38.1 cm wide and 23 cm high and projects 19.3 cm from the wall. Compare the width with the mirror or basin it will hang above — it should sit within the width of the mirror. It weighs 1.7 kg.
IP44 means protection against splashing water from any direction. The manufacturer specifies it for interiors including bathrooms — it is not an outdoor fitting. It is Class I, so it must be connected to an earth conductor.
Which bulbs and what light
There are two E14 lampholders, each rated up to 40 W. Bulbs are not included, so two need to be bought. The glass is clear and the bulb stays visible inside the globe, so it is worth choosing one that looks good; the manufacturer recommends a clear-glass E14 LED candle lamp, sold separately. The bubbles in the glass break the light up slightly and throw small highlights onto the wall.
The fitting works with dimmable lamps: dimming needs E14 bulbs marked as dimmable and a suitable dimmer.
Style and intended rooms
The body is steel and the shades are glass. The Art Deco shows in the geometry: a straight horizontal bar, globes and metal rings in place of ornament. The light is assigned to bathrooms and dining rooms. The same fitting comes in black, and the Hollis range also includes a three-light wall light.
