Hollis is a Hinkley wall light that the manufacturer describes as a nod to the Art Deco lights of the 1920s. A clear seeded-glass globe, ringed by a narrow band, sits on top of a vertical brass rod, and the whole piece is held by a short arm from a round wall plate. The Heritage Brass finish is a warm, satin brass. It is distributed by Elstead Lighting.
Size and installation
The light is 40.3 cm high, 15.6 cm wide and projects 19 cm from the wall. Its vertical form takes up only a narrow strip of wall — a figure to compare with the space beside a mirror or between cabinets. It weighs 1.02 kg and is protection class I, so the wall box must provide an earth conductor.
For the bathroom
The IP44 rating means protection against splashing water from any direction, and the manufacturer intends the fitting for interiors including bathrooms. In our catalogue it is also assigned to dining rooms.
Light source
The fitting has one E14 socket for a bulb of up to 40 W; the bulb is not included. The globe is clear and the bubbles in the glass only slightly soften the view, so the bulb stays visible — which is why a decoratively shaped bulb, such as a candle, suits it. The light can be dimmed with a bulb marked as dimmable and a dimmer in the installation. The same series also comes in black.
