Hollis is a three-light wall light: a horizontal arm in Heritage Brass with an oval wall plate, from which hang three globes of clear seeded glass, each wrapped in a brass band. Designed by Hinkley and distributed by Elstead Lighting, it draws on the Art Deco fittings of the 1920s.
Size and where to fit it
The wall light is 60.6 cm wide, 23 cm high and projects 19.3 cm from the wall. Compare the width with the mirror or basin it will hang above – centred over it, the fitting should not run past its edges. It weighs 2.5 kg.
The IP44 rating means protection against water splashed from any direction, and the manufacturer intends it for interiors including bathrooms. It is a Class I fitting, so it must be connected to a protective earth conductor.
Which bulbs and what light
The fitting has three E14 sockets, each rated for a maximum of 40 W. Bulbs are not included – you need to buy three. The glass is clear, so the bulb stays visible inside each globe; the manufacturer recommends a clear-glass E14 LED candle lamp for this fitting, sold separately. The bubbles in the glass break up the light slightly and cast small reflections on the wall.
The fitting is compatible with dimmable lamps: dimming needs three E14 bulbs sold as dimmable and a suitable dimmer.
Which rooms it suits
The wall light is listed for bathrooms, above a mirror and for dining rooms. Above a mirror, three sources spread over 60 cm light the face more evenly than a single point. The Hollis range also comes in black.
