Hollister Semi-Flush Ceiling Light - 2 Lights - Polished Nickel Elstead

Hollister is a semi-flush ceiling light in polished nickel: curved steel arms drop from a round ceiling plate and hold a wide shade of clear seeded glass, open at the top. It is a Quoizel design distributed by Elstead Lighting.

Size and fitting

The fitting is 31.3 cm in diameter and 26.8 cm high – that is how far it drops below the ceiling. Subtract this figure from your own room height to see how much headroom remains. The light does not hang on a cable but is rigidly joined to the ceiling plate, so it does not sway and needs no drop adjustment.

It weighs 2.6 kg. It is a Class I fitting, so it must be connected to a protective earth conductor. The manufacturer intends it for interiors only.

Which bulbs and what light

Inside are two E27 sockets, each rated for a maximum of 60 W. Bulbs are not included – you need to buy two. The manufacturer recommends a clear A60 E27 LED bulb for this fitting, sold separately. The glass is clear, so the bulbs stay visible through the shade, and the bubbles in the glass break up the light slightly.

The fitting is compatible with dimmable lamps: dimming needs two E27 bulbs sold as dimmable and a suitable dimmer. Colour and brightness come with the bulb you choose – bedrooms and dining rooms usually get 2700–3000 K, a warm light.

Which rooms it suits

The light is listed for bedrooms and dining rooms. Its low height suits rooms where a pendant on a cable would hang too low, and the clear shade does not block the light. The Hollister range also comes in brushed brass.
