Isla Table Lamp with Bloom Purple Shade - 1 Light - White / Aged Brass Elstead

Isla is an Elstead Lighting table lamp with a glossy white ceramic base in a double-gourd shape, standing on a steel ring in an aged brass finish. It is topped with a tapered shade in Bloom Purple faux silk with a visible, irregular slub weave.

Size and placement

The lamp is 64 cm tall and the shade is 36 cm (14 in) in diameter. Compare the height with the chest of drawers, console or bedside table it will stand on — together they set how high the lower edge of the shade sits. The lamp weighs 5.1 kg, so the surface or shelf has to take that weight.

It runs from a plug and switches on with an inline switch on the cable. It is a Class I fitting, so it needs an earthed socket. The manufacturer specifies it for indoor use only.

Which lamp to use

The lamp has one E27 socket for a bulb of up to 60 W. No bulb is included. The manufacturer suggests a clear A60 LED lamp: 8 W, 800 lm, 3000 K — the brightness of an old 60 W bulb in warm white. The fitting is designed for dimmable smart lamps, so brightness is set by the lamp itself, with no separate dimmer in the fitting.

The laminated fabric shade lets part of the light through, tinted by its colour, and sends most of it down onto the surface and up to the ceiling.

The same white base with aged brass comes with shades in Okra Green, Ballerina Pink and Cranberry Pink, so the version is chosen by shade colour. The lamp suits a living room, a bedroom and a home office.
