Isla is a table lamp from Elstead Lighting's own range with a glossy white ceramic body shaped like a double gourd. The body sits on a round metal base in aged brass and is topped by a tapered drum shade in laminated faux silk in Okra Green, a rich, slightly muted green.
Size and space on the table
The lamp stands 64 cm tall with its shade, and the widest element is the 36 cm (14 inch) shade — that is the clear width to allow on a chest of drawers, console or side table. It weighs 5.1 kg; the ceramic body and metal base make it heavy to move but steady once in place.
Power and light source
The lamp plugs into an ordinary socket and is switched by an inline switch on the cable. It takes one E27 bulb of up to 60 W; the bulb is not included. The lamp itself has no dimmer — the manufacturer lists it as compatible with dimmable smart bulbs, so brightness is set from the bulb's app or remote. It is a Class I appliance, earthed through the plug.
Shade and character
The shade is open at the top and bottom, so part of the light falls onto the table and part onto the wall and ceiling, while the green fabric tints the light passing through its sides. The manufacturer lists the shade under code LSUK099. The Isla family also comes with shades in other colours. White ceramic, brass and a plain coloured shade make a classic combination that suits a living room, bedroom or study. The lamp is for indoor use only.
