Lofoten 1961BL is a NORLYS light in the form of a 23 × 23 cm cube, made to stand on a wall top, platform or other structure. The frame and cap are electro-galvanised steel powder-coated in black (RAL 9005), and the four sides are filled with milky PMMA panels. Including its base, the light is 27 cm high.
Where it goes and how it is fixed
NORLYS designed Lofoten mainly for lighting terraces and other architectural layouts – it is a light for the top of a retaining wall, garden steps or a gate pillar. The base has four ø5.8 mm holes at 70 × 70 mm spacing, so before buying it is worth checking that the wall top takes a 23 × 23 cm square with that fixing pattern inside it.
The terminals take cables up to 2 × 2.5 mm², and up to 2 × 1.5 mm² for loop-through, so several lights on one wall can run from a single line. The cable should have a round sheath of 7–10.5 mm. The light is protection class II, i.e. double insulated – no protective earth is needed, a two-core cable is enough. It weighs 2.89 kg.
What light it gives
Inside there is one E27 socket for an LED bulb of up to 11 W. The bulb is not included, so you choose the colour and brightness yourself; NORLYS allows the end user to replace it without calling a service. The milky panels spread the light to all four sides and hide the bulb itself, while the steel cap partly shields it from above – the cube glows softly across its whole sides instead of showing a bright point.
Durability and build
IP44 means protection against water splashing from any direction, so the light can stand on an open terrace. It operates from −20 to +45 °C. A silicone gasket and an EPDM cable gland seal the inside against water around the cable. NORLYS describes the design as classic and simple: a black frame with plain milky surfaces and no ornament.
