Lofoten 1940BL is an outdoor wall light shaped as a box lantern: a black steel frame holds clear safety-glass panes at the front and sides, and the open lampholder is visible inside. The frame is powder-coated black, RAL 9005.
Dimensions and mounting
The light is 30 cm tall and 19 cm wide, and it projects only 11 cm from the wall – so it fits beside a door even where there is a narrow walkway or a door leaf swinging open next to it. It weighs 2.89 kg.
It is fixed through three ø5 mm holes spaced 80 × 105 mm apart. A round-sheathed cable 7–10.5 mm in diameter enters through the cable gland to terminals for conductors up to 2 × 2.5 mm². The fitting can also be looped through with conductors up to 2 × 1.5 mm² to supply another wall light on the same wall.
Bulb and light
Inside is an E27 socket for an A55–A60 shaped bulb, LED up to 11 W. No bulb is included, so you choose the brightness and colour yourself – an LED bulb of about 800 lm gives as much light as an old 60 W incandescent, and 2700–3000 K is the warm light usual at a front door.
The panes are clear and nothing screens the source, so the bulb stays visible and its shape decides how the light looks after dark – a decorative bulb with a visible filament is shown off well here, while an ordinary opal bulb will read as a bright patch inside the frame.
Outdoors
The IP44 rating protects the fitting against water splashed from any direction, so it suits a facade, a front door, a terrace or a garden gazebo. A silicone gasket and an EPDM cable gland keep it sealed. The light is protection class II, meaning double insulation, so it needs no protective earth conductor.
The simple, classic form of a frame with glass panes sits as well on a brick wall as on smooth render.
