Lund 290BD Outdoor Wall Light, Black with Gold Patina, E27, IP55 NORLYS

Lund 290BD is a NORLYS outdoor wall light with a steel shade shaped like a flat cone, carried on a straight horizontal arm with a round wall plate. The finish is a black base with a gold patina. Under the shade sits a clear polycarbonate cover, rounded at the bottom.

Size and installation

The shade is 32.5 cm across, the light is 24 cm high and projects 42 cm from the wall, and the wall plate is 11.5 cm in diameter. Check the 42 cm projection against the swing of a nearby door. The fitting weighs 1.74 kg.

It is mounted on the installation box supplied with it. Norlys also offers a separate corner bracket, 153, for fitting the light on the corner of a building. The terminals take conductors up to 2 × 2.5 mm², or up to 2 × 1.5 mm² when wired in a loop, so several lights on one facade can run from a single supply line. The gland seals a round-sheathed cable of 7–10.5 mm. Protection class II means no protective earth conductor is needed.

Bulb and light

The light has one E27 socket for an LED bulb of up to 9 W in the classic A55–A60 shape. No bulb is included, so brightness and colour temperature depend on the one you choose.

The light is open and partly shielded from above: the cone of the shade sends most of the output downwards, onto the wall and the ground below, and a ULOR of 12% means about one eighth of the light goes above the fitting. The cover is clear, so it does not diffuse the light and the bulb stays visible beneath it.

Build and weather resistance

The fitting is made of hot-dip galvanised and powder-coated steel, and the cover of clear UV-stabilised polycarbonate, which resists yellowing in sunlight. IP55 means protection against dust and water jets, so the light can hang on an open facade without a canopy. If the cover cracks, the whole fitting does not need replacing: Norlys stocks it as a spare part, service kit 06240003.

Norlys describes Lund as a wall light of Scandinavian design — a plain cone, a slim arm and a round plate with no ornament — intended for general lighting along the wall of a building. The gold patina on a black base gives this simple form the look of aged metal.
