Mantra Flower 8703 ceiling fan with LED light, white, folding blades

The Mantra Flower 8703 is a ceiling fan with built-in LED lighting and six folding, petal-shaped blades. The body is steel with ABS parts, the blades are polycarbonate, and the whole fitting is finished in white with an opal diffuser in the middle.

How much room it takes under the ceiling

With the blades opened out the fan measures 79 cm across; folded in, it measures 50 cm. Both figures are worth comparing with the distance from the mounting point to walls, beams and tall furniture: the first one applies while it runs, and at rest the fitting takes up noticeably less space.

It is 20,5 cm deep and the ceiling canopy is 15 cm across. The manufacturer does not provide an extension rod, so the fan mounts flush under the ceiling — including a sloped ceiling. Net weight is 4,1 kg.

How much light it gives and of what kind

The LED module is built in and supplied with the fitting, so there is no bulb to buy separately. It puts out 2800 lm, which is enough to light a whole room rather than only the zone underneath it.

Colour temperature is adjustable between 3000 and 5000 K, from warm white to cool. Brightness is dimmable, colour rendering is Ra 80, and the light leaves the diffuser at a 120° beam angle, so it covers a wide slice of the room. The manufacturer rates the module at 25 000 hours and 10 000 switching cycles.

How it cools and how loud it is

A 24 W DC motor drives it, reaching 360 revolutions per minute and moving up to 116 m³ of air per minute. Six speeds are available.

At the lowest speed the noise level is 33 dB and at the highest 47 dB — the first figure sits in the range where a fan can be left running overnight in a bedroom. The blades are reversible and have a summer and a winter mode: in winter the rotor turns the other way and mixes the warm air collected under the ceiling.

Control and connection

An R00143 radio remote on 433 MHz is included, and it handles both the fan speed and the light. The fitting is protection class I, so the wiring at the mounting point has to carry an earth conductor. Supply: 100–240 V, 50/60 Hz.
