Mantra SAL 6284 wall spotlight, matt white, 1 × GU10, with switch

Mantra SAL 6284 is a matt-white wall spotlight with a single cylindrical head and a square wall base. Its aluminium and iron construction has no decorative outer shade. This is a compact, separate lighting point for the wall, with the final light effect determined by the GU10 bulb you choose.

Choose the bulb before installation

The fitting has one GU10 socket. The installation instructions specify an LED bulb rated at no more than 10 W, and the bulb is not included. Buying the appropriate light source is therefore part of getting the lamp ready for use. Its colour temperature, lumen output and beam angle determine the resulting illumination. The manufacturer's photographs of the lamp switched on do not mean that a bulb is supplied.

An integrated ON/OFF switch is positioned in the wall base, allowing operation at the fitting itself. Consider access to this switch when deciding how high to mount the light. The manufacturer lists this model as non-dimmable: the switch turns the light on and off rather than adjusting its brightness.

Check the projection from the wall

The base measures 8 × 8 cm. The cylindrical section is 6 cm in diameter and 9 cm long. In the head position illustrated, the technical drawing gives a projection of 12.77 cm. Compare that measurement with the available space and nearby furniture before choosing the mounting location. The instructions show a wired connection for live, neutral and protective earth. This is an installation-connected fitting, not a lamp with a lead that plugs into a socket.

A simple additional lighting point

The plain white cylinder and square base suit modern and minimalist interiors. SAL can provide supplementary wall lighting in a living room, bedroom or entrance hall. Assess the area it will light from the selected bulb's beam and output, rather than the housing colour. When using several fittings together, match the bulbs' colour temperatures if you want a consistent result across the installation.
