Marvele is a vertical wall light from Elstead Lighting's own range. A long shade of cased opal glass runs along the wall, and its middle is wrapped in a cluster of steel strips of different lengths in an aged brass finish. Light comes out upwards and downwards at the same time.
Size and where to mount it
The wall light is 55.9 cm tall, and both its width and its projection from the wall are 12.7 cm. It is a narrow, tall shape – before installing, compare those 56 cm with the free wall space, for example between the edge of a mirror and a corner. The fitting weighs 3.68 kg, so it needs a secure fixing in the wall.
The IP44 rating means it is protected against splashing water, which is why the manufacturer also allows it in a bathroom, for instance beside a mirror. It is protection class I, so it must be connected to the earth conductor.
Lamps and light
Inside are two LED lamps with a G9 base, 4 W and 400 lm each – they are included, so the wall light works as soon as it is connected. Together that gives around 800 lm, about as much as an old 60 W bulb. The 3000 K colour temperature is warm white, and the opal glass diffuses the light and hides the lamps themselves.
The fitting works with dimmable lamps: to adjust brightness you need a dimmer and G9 lamps labelled as dimmable. Used lamps are replaced with standard G9 ones.
Where it fits
The smooth opal cylinder and the rhythm of vertical brass strips make a modern form with a clear decorative accent. The manufacturer intends the wall light for the living room, dining room, study, hallway and bathroom. The Marvele series also includes chandeliers with 6, 8 and 10 lights and a mini pendant in the same finish.
