The Charlotte W0067 is a wall light in chrome-plated metal with a white, tapered fabric shade. The arm sweeps up in a curve from the round wall plate, a cut glass teardrop hangs beneath it, and a second glass element sits where the arm meets the shade.

How much wall it takes up

The manufacturer's technical drawing gives 41 cm in height and 26 cm in width for the whole fitting. The shade alone measures 18 cm tall, 12 cm across the top and 16 cm across the bottom, and the round wall plate sits off to one side of it. The fitting is therefore not symmetrical: hanging two of them side by side, you measure the spacing plate to plate, not shade to shade.

The 26 cm width is a figure to compare with the stretch of wall left between a door frame and a corner, or above a bedside table. The 41 cm height includes the hanging glass teardrop, which is the lowest point of the fitting.

What bulb it takes

The fitting takes one lamp with an E14 cap of up to 40 W, run from a 230 V supply. No bulb is included, so you choose the colour and brightness yourself - for a bedroom or a hall, 2700-3000 K is the usual pick, meaning warm light with a yellowish cast.

The shade is opaque at the sides and open at the top and bottom, so light leaves in two directions: upwards onto the wall above the fitting, and downwards onto whatever stands below it. The glass pieces at the arm throw some of it back as points of light.

The metal parts are chrome-plated - mirrored and cool in tone, against the matt white of the fabric. Glass appears twice, as a bead on the arm and as the hanging teardrop, both cut. That pairing of chrome with crystal is what gives the fitting its glamour character, on an otherwise plain, modern shade silhouette.

The manufacturer intends it for bedrooms and hallways, and for living rooms as extra light beside an armchair or a sofa. The same family holds two pendants, Charlotte P0109 and the larger P0110, so the wall light can be matched with a lamp over the table in the identical finish.
