Maytoni Mabell MOD306WL-01G is a wall light with an organic, oval shape reminiscent of a pebble: a gold, mirror-gloss shade with a hollow in the middle where the bulb sits. The shade covers the whole fitting, while the black metal frame stays hidden between it and the wall.
Size and installation
The wall light is 27.5 cm high and 20.8 cm wide, and projects 12.8 cm from the wall. That last figure decides whether it fits beside a narrow passage or next to a headboard, so compare it with the free space along the wall. It weighs 1 kg.
Installation starts with a metal bar screwed to the wall; the wires are connected to it, the bulb is screwed in, and finally the shade slides on and is secured with screws. Changing the bulb therefore means taking the shade off. The fitting is protection class I, which means it must be connected to the earth conductor.
Light source
The fitting takes one E14 bulb of up to 40 W and runs on 220–240 V. The manufacturer states that it is not dimmable. The bulb shines inside the gold hollow, so the light reflects off the shade and takes on its warm tone.
Where it works
Mabell belongs to the Modern collection and has a modern, sculptural form without ornament. It suits a living room, a bedroom and a dining room, as well as hotel and restaurant interiors where wall lights decorate the wall. Maytoni also offers the same series with a smoky and a copper shade.
