MEAN WELL LPV-100-12 power supply 12 V DC 102 W IP67

The MEAN WELL LPV-100-12 is a switched-mode power supply with a constant 12 V DC output and an elongated plastic enclosure. It belongs to the LPV-100 family, but this particular version has a rated output of 102 W at 8.5 A. The complete model designation distinguishes it from the other output-voltage versions in the same range.

Check the intended application first

The manufacturer identifies decorative and advertising display devices, together with general-purpose electronics operating in dusty or damp environments, as applications. Its current documentation also explicitly states that this supply is not intended for LED lighting luminaire applications in the European Union and China. Matching a 12 V voltage requirement alone therefore does not establish suitability for an arbitrary lighting installation.

Before selecting it, compare the load's voltage requirement, its required supply method and the purpose of the complete equipment. The LPV-100-12 is a constant-voltage supply, not a constant-current driver. It is not a substitute for the 24 V version.

Allow space beyond the enclosure

The body measures 190 × 52 × 37 mm. When checking available space, also allow for the wires leaving both ends and for the connections they require. The manufacturer's mechanical drawing shows the mounting holes and recommended mounting orientation; these details matter when planning its position.

Cooling relies on free-air convection. Simply fitting the enclosure into a recess does not establish that the thermal conditions are suitable. This is a component for electrical connection to final equipment, rather than a self-contained luminaire or light source.

Read IP67 alongside the installation limits

The encapsulated enclosure is rated IP67. The manufacturer permits indoor use and outdoor use without direct sunlight exposure. Its operating temperature range is -25 to +70 °C, subject to load reduction according to the datasheet curve. The upper temperature limit does not mean full rated output is available throughout that range.

The circuit includes short-circuit, overload and output overvoltage protection. These functions do not replace correct load selection or properly made and protected connections in accordance with the manufacturer's installation instructions.
