Milo is an Elstead Lighting table lamp with a glossy white ceramic base shaped like a long-necked vase, set on a round foot in aged brass. On top is a 14-inch (about 36 cm) drum shade in the Linear Antique pattern, which in the photos shows a cream ground crossed by wavy, golden bands.
Size and placement
The lamp is 69 cm tall including the shade, and the shade and base fit within a 36 × 36 cm footprint. That is the figure to compare with the depth of the chest, console or desk it will stand on: on a surface narrower than 36 cm the shade will overhang the edge. The lamp weighs 5.1 kg.
It runs from a plug, so there is no wiring into the mains, just a socket. It is protection class I, which means an earthed plug. It is for indoor use.
Lamp and light
The lamp has one E27 lampholder for a lamp of up to 60 W; no lamp is included. The manufacturer lists it as compatible with dimmable smart lamps, in which case brightness is controlled by the lamp itself, for example from an app. Elstead recommends a clear, dimmable Litec E27 A60 LED lamp: 8 W, 800 lm, 3000 K, the brightness of an old 60 W bulb in warm white.
The fabric shade has a laminate lining and is opaque, so light mainly falls down onto the surface and up towards the ceiling, with only a soft glow through the pattern.
Variants and style
Milo with the same base also comes with shades in other patterns: blue, green, and grey with brass. White ceramic, brass and a patterned shade give the lamp a classic character that suits a living room as well as the home office it is listed for.
