Milo Table Lamp - 1 Light - White / Aged Brass, Feather Duck Egg Blue Shade Elstead

Milo is a table lamp from Elstead Lighting's own range: a glossy white ceramic base shaped like a slender vase stands on a ring of metal in an aged brass finish and is topped with a brass finial. The 14-inch drum shade is covered in fabric printed with white feathers on a pale grey-blue ground — the Feather Duck Egg Blue pattern.

Size and where to place it

The lamp stands 69 cm tall including the shade, and the shade is 36 cm across. The surface it sits on should be at least 36 cm deep so the shade does not overhang the edge — a figure to compare with a chest of drawers, console or bedside table. Check the 69 cm height against whatever hangs above the furniture: a shelf, a picture or a window sill.

At 5.1 kg the lamp is stable and not easily knocked over. It runs from a plug, so no electrician is needed — just a socket nearby. It is a Class I fitting and is for indoor use only.

Bulb and dimming

The lamp takes one E27 bulb of up to 60 W. No bulb is included, so you choose the colour and brightness yourself — under a fabric shade, warm light of 2700–3000 K is the usual choice. The manufacturer lists the lamp as compatible with dimmable smart bulbs, meaning brightness is controlled from the bulb itself rather than a dimmer in the circuit.

Construction and variants

The base combines ceramic with steel, and the shade is fabric with a laminated lining that stiffens the drum and keeps its shape. The brass details — the ring at the foot and the finial at the neck — set against the white glaze give a classic composition suited to a living room, bedroom or home office.

The Milo series offers the same base with other shade patterns: with brass details also in green, grey with brass and orange, and with polished nickel in orange, pink, silver and yellow.
