Monte Medium Outdoor Wall Lantern - 1 Light Source - Black Elstead

The medium Monte wall lantern from Hinkley is a flat, upright box that sits back against the wall: a black aluminium frame, panes of clear glass cut in a diagonal lattice and a solid black back panel. Through the glass you can see the socket in a dark bronze metallic tone.

Size

At 40.6 cm high and 19.1 cm wide, the lantern projects just 14.7 cm from the wall, so it keeps clear of outward-opening doors and narrow paths. It is more than 15 cm shorter than the large version (55.9 cm) and lighter, at 3.75 kg.

The fitting is intended for exterior use; IP44 means protection against splashing water. It is Class I, so it is wired with an earth conductor.

Light source

The lantern has one E27 socket for a bulb of up to 60 W; the bulb is not included. The glass is clear, so the bulb becomes part of the look — the cut lattice draws fine lines across it. It is compatible with dimmable bulbs where the circuit has a dimmer.

A simple geometric body and decorative cut glass combine a classic lantern with a note of glamour, shared by the whole Monte range, which also includes an outdoor ceiling light.
