The Kichler Mount Vernon wall lantern in Olde Bronze — a dark, aged bronze that turns to lighter, coppery highlights along the edges of the roof and frames. A wide roof caps the cage of clear seedy glass, and above it curves an arm with a decorative scroll. This is the large version of the lantern.
How much wall it takes
At 49.5 cm high and 24.1 cm wide, the lantern stands 26 cm proud of the wall. Hold those measurements up against the wall by your entrance or gate before you buy — projection matters most where a narrow path runs right past. The aluminium fitting weighs 3.65 kg.
The manufacturer specifies it for outdoor use, and its IP44 rating protects it against splashing water. It is a Class I fitting, so an earth conductor is connected to it. If the lantern is going on the corner of a building, the C-BKT2-BROWN or C-BKT2-BLACK corner bracket can be bought separately.
Choosing the bulb
The lantern has one E27 socket and takes a bulb of up to 60 W, which is not supplied. Through the clear panes you see the bulb itself, so its shape becomes part of the fitting's look; the bubbles in the glass bend the light only slightly. It works with a dimmer as long as the bulb you fit is dimmable.
