Nordlux Arki 35 outdoor wall light, galvanized steel, E27, 35 cm

Nordlux Arki 35 is an outdoor wall light with a broad, domed shade in galvanized steel. A round wall plate and short horizontal arm hold the shade away from the building. Designed by Bønnelycke MDD, its outline recalls an architect's desk lamp, but here the compact construction is intended for wall mounting rather than a jointed desktop arm.

Allow for the shade and its projection

The shade measures 35 cm across, the fitting is 27.6 cm high and its projection from the wall is 40.7 cm. Compare that projection with the space available above an entrance or beside a terrace or balcony before choosing a position. This is not a flat wall fitting: its wide dome extends into the surrounding space, so account for opening doors and the route people take past it.

Nordlux identifies entrances, driveways and terraces as intended settings. The restrained outline, exposed metallic finish and simple arm support Scandinavian, minimalist and industrial exterior schemes. The shade itself provides the visual emphasis, rather than decorative scrollwork or an elaborate frame.

Choose the light source separately

There is one E27 socket for a replaceable bulb rated at no more than 20 W. A bulb is not included. Its brightness and colour temperature therefore depend on the source you select, rather than being fixed characteristics of Arki 35. The 20 W figure is a maximum bulb rating, not a statement of light output.

The fitting requires a fixed connection to a 230 V supply. As a Class I luminaire, it needs a protective earth connection. Isolate the electrical supply before installation and follow the manufacturer's mounting instructions.

Galvanized finish for outdoor exposure

Article 2118111031 uses galvanized steel as its primary material and plastic as a secondary material. Its IP54 rating and inclusion in the Designed For Seaside range establish outdoor use, including coastal areas. Nordlux notes that the galvanized surface develops a darker patina over time. The stated 15-year guarantee covers surface deterioration; it should not be read as a blanket 15-year guarantee for every part of the light.
