Norlys Borg 5143GR post-top luminaire graphite LED 32W 3000K D4i

Norlys Borg 5143GR is a post-top luminaire shaped as a flat disc 51.2 cm across, made of cast aluminium powder-coated in graphite (RAL 7016). A satin PMMA diffuser closes it underneath, and the light is directed downwards only. The luminaire is supplied on its own – the pole is chosen separately.

Mounting on the pole

The luminaire slips onto a pole spigot 60 mm in diameter, to a depth of 95 mm. It stands 15.4 cm tall overall, of which the disc itself is 7.5 cm. The mounting adapter and the reducer are accessories sold separately, as is the pole. The luminaire's side area is 0.042 m² – the figure a pole is sized against for wind load.

It is a protection class I luminaire, so it needs a PE earth conductor. It comes with 6 m of H05RN-F cable for connection in a junction box, and the manufacturer restricts installation to suitably authorised people. The inrush current of 21 A for 300 µs has to be allowed for when choosing the circuit breaker if several luminaires will run on one circuit.

Light and control

At 32 W the luminaire delivers 3887 lm of warm white 3000 K light at CRI 80 – lighting for a path, a driveway or a park alley rather than decorative light. A ULOR of 0% means nothing shines above the luminaire's level, so it does not glare into windows above it or brighten the night sky. The manufacturer's photometric data are given for a mounting height of 4 m.

Control runs on D4i, which is based on DALI: dimming needs a D4i/DALI controller, and an ordinary dimmer will not work. The driver is factory-set to maximum current, and the Zhaga Book 18 socket on the housing takes a sensor, such as the Philips EasyAir SR shown in the instructions. The manufacturer quotes a driver lifetime of 100,000 h and over 54,000 h (L90) for the LED module.

Durability

IP65 means dust-tight and protected against water jets from any direction, and IK08 means resistance to a 5 J impact. The flat, smooth, unornamented form places the luminaire in the modern style, suited to a terrace, a driveway, a park or a residential street.
