Bornholm 541GR is a round NORLYS outdoor ceiling and wall light, 29 cm in diameter and 9 cm deep, with a graphite (RAL 7016) housing of powder-coated cast aluminium and a domed diffuser of opal, UV-stabilised polycarbonate. It can be mounted on a wall or on a ceiling, for example under an entrance canopy.
Light and light source
The built-in Philips Fortimo LED module produces 1059 lm, and 428 lm leaves the fitting through the opal diffuser at 7.8 W – a little over half of what a 60 W bulb gave (about 800 lm). The 3000 K colour is a warm white, and the opal diffuser spreads the light so individual LEDs are not visible. A ULOR of 3% means almost all of the light goes below the level of the fitting.
The fitting has a built-in phase-dimmable driver that works with both trailing-edge and leading-edge dimmers. The manufacturer states a module lifetime above 50,000 h (L80) and 38,000 h (L90), and 50,000 h for the driver. The LED module and driver are replaced by a professional service, and Norlys offers repair kit ZS541zx0014 for this fitting.
Installation and connection
The light is fixed through two ø5 mm holes spaced 100 × 170 mm and weighs 1.41 kg. The terminals take conductors up to 3 × 2.5 mm², or up to 3 × 1.5 mm² when looping through, so several fittings on one facade can run from a single supply line; the cable gland takes round cable of 7–10.5 mm diameter.
It is a protection class I fitting, so it must be connected to a protective earth conductor. IP65 means fully dust-tight and protected against water jets, and IK10 means resistance to impacts of 20 J, so the light can be mounted low on a wall where it may get knocked.
Where it fits
The plain round form with a smooth diffuser suits a modern style. The light works on a balcony, a terrace or in a gazebo, beside a front door, and on the facades of hotels and restaurants.
