NORLYS Bremen 638GA outdoor wall light, hot-dip galvanised, LED 10 W 3000 K, motion sensor, IP54

Bremen 638GA is a round NORLYS outdoor wall light, 28 cm across, with a domed opal diffuser crossed by two horizontal bars. This version has a hot-dip galvanised finish – a silver-grey zinc coating. Inside are an integrated LED module and a microwave motion sensor with a dusk switch, so the light comes on by itself after dark when someone approaches.

How the sensor works

The microwave sensor reacts to movement; the dusk switch stops it switching on in daylight. The hold function keeps it lit while movement continues, so it does not go out on someone at the door looking for their keys. The sensor is built in.

How much light it gives

The fitting draws 10 W and delivers 532 lm at 3000 K, a warm white. That is less than an old 60 W bulb (about 800 lm), but enough for the entrance, the door steps and the wall around the fitting. The opal diffuser spreads the light, and a ULOR of 15% means part of the output goes upwards and also brightens the wall above the light.

The Philips Fortimo LED module is included, so no bulb is needed. The manufacturer quotes over 50,000 hours to 70% output – about 45 years at 3 hours a day. Only a professional service may replace the module; Norlys offers a service kit and a spare diffuser for this fitting.

Mounting and wiring

The light projects 14 cm from the wall and weighs 1.75 kg. It is fixed through two ø4.2 mm holes spaced 155 × 40 mm apart. The terminals take conductors up to 3 × 2.5 mm², and further fittings can be looped through with cable up to 3 × 1.5 mm² – several lights on one facade do not each need their own supply run. The cable gland takes round cable 7–10.5 mm in diameter. It is a protection class I fitting, so it must be connected to an earth conductor, and installation should be done by a qualified electrician.

Where it fits

IP54 means protection against dust and water splashed from any direction, so it can go on an exterior wall without a canopy. It is intended for above the front door, balconies and facades, including hotel and restaurant entrances – wherever light should come on as someone arrives. The simple round body with two bars matches a Scandinavian style.
