The Norlys Karlstad 230BL is a black outdoor wall light with a curved arm, broad metal shade and clear cover around the bulb. This BL version has a powder-coated steel body in RAL 9005. A round wall plate and exposed-looking light source give it the traditional outline of the Scandinavian Karlstad range.
A visible bulb with specific size limits
The fitting takes one replaceable E27 LED bulb rated at no more than 9 W. The instructions specify an A55–A60 shape, a diameter of 55–60 mm and a maximum height of 110 mm. Check those measurements as well as the cap when choosing a bulb. A bulb is not supplied with this version; the photograph shows how the fitting looks with one installed.
The clear polycarbonate cover leaves the bulb visible, so its shape contributes to the appearance of the whole light. Colour temperature and light output depend on the bulb you choose, rather than a built-in LED module with fixed characteristics. The instructions allow the end user to replace the light source after disconnecting the power.
Allow for the arm at an entrance
The light is 25.5 cm high and projects 42 cm from the wall. Its circular wall plate is 11.5 cm in diameter. Before fitting it above a door, beside a terrace or on a balcony, compare that projection with the door swing and the space available for passing. This is a projecting wall lamp, not a flush fitting close to the facade.
It mounts using the supplied installation box, and electrical installation should be carried out by an electrician. For building corners, Norlys offers the separately sold 153XX0009 corner bracket. That accessory is not a standard part of the wall light.
Black steel and a transparent cover
The cover is UV-stabilised polycarbonate and the cable gland is EPDM. An IP55 rating supports outdoor installation on a facade or gazebo wall. The curved arm and broad shade suit Scandinavian, classic and rustic architecture. This black steel version should not be confused with the copper Karlstad variant.
