Lofoten 1944 is a NORLYS outdoor pendant in the form of a square lantern on a chain, with a classic design. The frame of electro-galvanised steel, powder-coated black (RAL 9005), is glazed on every side with clear safety glass, so the bulb inside stays visible.
Size and mounting
The lantern is 19 × 19 cm in section and 93 cm tall including the chain and canopy, of which 62.5 cm runs from the ceiling to the top edge of the lantern. Subtract those 93 cm from the ceiling height above the entrance or terrace to see how much headroom remains. The canopy is 11 cm in diameter, and the lamp hangs from a ceiling hook. The luminaire weighs 3.71 kg.
The terminals take conductors up to 2 × 2.5 mm², and the cable entry a round cable of 5–12 mm in diameter. The luminaire is protection class II, so it needs no protective earth conductor.
Light source
Inside is an E27 lampholder for an LED bulb of up to 11 W; the bulb is not included and is replaced by the user. Because the glass is clear and the light is unshielded, the bulb is part of how the lamp looks: a decorative filament bulb emphasises the lantern, while a frosted one gives more diffused light. Colour temperature and brightness are chosen with the bulb.
Where it fits
IP44 means protection against water splashes from any direction, so the lamp is best hung under cover: above an entrance, under a terrace roof or in a gazebo, where it is not standing directly in driving rain. The manufacturer intends it for gardens and terraces, and the classic form also suits the surroundings of hotels and restaurants.
