NORLYS London Big 4136BL outdoor wall lantern hanging from an arm, LED 9.5 W, 3000 K, black RAL 9005, IP54

London Big 4136BL is an outdoor wall light shaped as a classic lantern hanging beneath a curved arm that springs from a wall plate. The body is cast aluminium with a black powder coat (RAL 9005), and the four sides of the lantern are glazed with clear, UV-stabilised polycarbonate. Inside sits an integrated 9.5 W LED module.

Size and mounting on the facade

The fitting is 56 cm tall and 30.5 cm wide and projects 46 cm from the wall. Check that projection against nearby doors and outward-opening windows. The wall plate is 23 cm high and is fixed with four screws through ø5 mm holes spaced 25 × 140 mm apart. The manufacturer also allows mounting on building corners.

The light weighs 3.57 kg. The supply cable enters through an EPDM gland that takes round-sheathed cable 7–10.5 mm in diameter, and the terminals accept conductors up to 2 × 2.5 mm². It is a Class II fitting, so no protective earth conductor is needed.

How much light, and what kind

The Philips Fortimo DLM module produces 1100 lm, and 757 lm leave the lantern. Use that second figure when comparing lamps, because it describes the light that actually reaches the entrance, the steps by the door or a section of the facade — slightly less than an old 60 W bulb. 3000 K is warm white, and CRI 80 renders colours correctly under ordinary outdoor lighting.

You cannot change the light source yourself: according to the manufacturer, the LED module may only be replaced by a professional service. Its rated life is over 50,000 hours, after which it still delivers at least 70% of its light output — about 45 years at three hours a day. The U1 rating in the BUG classification means only a small share of the light goes upwards into the sky.

Build and where it fits

IP54 protects the fitting against dust and splashing water from any direction, so it can hang on an open wall with no canopy above it. IK07 means the housing withstands a 2 J impact. The four-sided lantern with its sloping roof, ball finial and foot recalls English street lanterns, a shape that suits traditional house facades as well as hotel and restaurant entrances.
