Norlys Vasa 457AL outdoor wall light, light grey RAL 9006, LED 12.8 W 4000 K, up-light, DALI2

Vasa 457AL is an outdoor wall light shaped like half a cylinder: powder-coated cast aluminium in light grey RAL 9006, with a diffuser of clear, textured, UV-stabilised polycarbonate. The luminaire throws diffuse 4000 K light upwards.

Size and installation

The wall light is 31 cm wide and 12.5 cm high, and projects 15.5 cm from the wall. It weighs 2.27 kg. It can be fixed through an intermediate plate with two 5 × 10 mm adjustment slots 45 mm apart, or directly through two ø5 mm holes 68 mm apart — a spacing worth comparing with the wall plugs left by an old lamp.

The terminals take conductors up to 3 × 2.5 mm², and up to 3 × 1.5 mm² when luminaires are looped through; the round cable is 7–10.5 mm in diameter. Protection class I means it is connected with a protective earth conductor. According to the manufacturer, one B16A breaker can supply up to 30 of these luminaires, and a B10A up to 10.

The light it gives

The luminaire draws 12.8 W and delivers 978 lm of neutral white 4000 K light at CRI 80. The light is spread over a hemisphere and directed upwards, so it lights the wall above the fitting and picks out the facade rather than lighting the path below. The same housing with downward light is Vasa 453.

Control is via DALI2: brightness is set over the DALI bus, which needs a DALI controller or gateway — an ordinary phase-cut dimmer will not work with this luminaire.

Durability and servicing

IP65 ingress protection and IK08 impact resistance allow the wall light to be fitted on a facade with no canopy. The integrated LED module is rated for more than 102,000 h at L80 and more than 52,600 h at L90, and the driver for 100,000 h. Both the module and the driver are replaced by a professional service.
