Duo 6556-PIR is an outdoor floodlight by SU-MA with two separate LED heads on ball joints and a motion and dusk sensor below them. The body is black cast aluminium and the covers are polycarbonate. The whole unit fixes to a wall on a round base plate.
How the sensor works
The sensor combines motion detection with a reading of ambient brightness, so the fitting switches on only after dark and only when someone enters its field of view. The manufacturer gives a 180° detection angle and a range of up to 18 metres — a radius to compare with the distance to your gate or garage door.
The on-time after a detection and the detection range are both adjustable; the dials sit on the sensor housing below the heads. The manufacturer sets out the settings in detail in the installation manual supplied with the fitting.
How much light it gives and how it aims
The built-in LED module draws 36 W and delivers 3000 lm in total — close to four times an old 60 W bulb (about 800 lm). That is working light rather than decoration: a fitting like this brightens a driveway or a section of facade, not a single detail.
4000 K is neutral white, without the yellow cast and clearly cooler than the 2700–3000 K used indoors. Both heads turn independently in their joints, so one can point at the drive and the other at a door or a wall. The light source is integrated — once it is spent, the whole fitting is replaced.
Where it mounts
The floodlight measures 25.4 cm wide, 19.8 cm high and 14.3 cm deep, and fixes on a round base 11.6 cm across with holes 9 cm apart. It runs on 230 V, so the supply cable has to reach the mounting point before the fitting goes up.
An IP54 rating means protection against dust and splashing water from any direction — the fitting takes rain on a facade, but it is not intended for pressurised jets or immersion. SU-MA covers its luminaires with a three-year warranty.
