London 480BL is a classic wall lantern in black (RAL 9005), mounted on a curved arm so that the lantern head stands above it. It is 52 cm tall and 20.5 cm wide and projects 33 cm from the wall. The body is powder-coated cast aluminium, and four panes of clear, UV-stabilised polycarbonate leave the bulb on show.
Where to hang it
The wall plate is 23 cm high and is fixed with four screws through ø5 mm holes spaced 25 × 140 mm apart. The manufacturer also allows mounting on the corner of a building, where the lantern lights two walls at once. Compare the 33 cm projection with the width of a walkway or the swing of a door next to the mounting point.
IP54 means protection against dust and splashing water from any direction, so the light can hang on a wall exposed to rain. IK07 stands for resistance to a 2 J impact.
Which bulb to choose
The lantern has an E27 socket and takes an LED bulb of up to 9 W in an A55–A60 shape – a wider globe or a long candle bulb will not fit inside. No bulb is included, and the user replaces it. The panes are clear, so the bulb stays visible: a decorative bulb with a visible filament looks better here than an opal one. As an example, the manufacturer names a dimmable 806 lm / 8.5 W / 2700 K LED bulb – warm light as bright as an old 60 W bulb. Dimming works with a dimmable bulb and a suitable dimmer.
Connection
It is a double-insulated protection class II fitting, so no protective earth conductor is needed. The terminals take conductors up to 2 × 2.5 mm², and the EPDM gland seals a cable 7–10.5 mm in diameter. The lantern weighs 1.85 kg.
