Toulouse is a chandelier built from clear, ribbed glass tubes hung in several rings whose diameter narrows towards the bottom. The frame and the chain are steel in a satin brass plating, and a clear supply cable runs alongside the chain. The fitting is 50 cm across and carries twelve light points.
What height to hang it at
Overall height is set by the chain — anywhere from 60 to 196 cm below the ceiling. At 50 cm across the fitting keeps its proportion over a table roughly a metre wide, and the bottom edge of the glass usually ends up 70–80 cm above the top: the light then covers the whole surface and the glass does not block the view across the table.
The chain anchors into a round ceiling rose in the same brass finish. Because it shortens link by link, the height is set in steps rather than continuously.
Which lamps you have to buy
The chandelier has twelve G9 sockets and takes lamps of up to 3 W each, so no more than 36 W across the whole fitting. Lamps are not included — colour and brightness are yours to pick, and with twelve points it pays to buy them all from one range so the tint does not vary.
The fitting can be dimmed, but that needs two things at once: a dimmer in the installation and G9 lamps described as dimmable. The manufacturer offers both dimmable and non-dimmable G9 lamps for it, so this is where the wrong one is easily picked.
Build
The glass parts are clear, ribbed and angle-cut along the bottom edge; set close together they form the successive rings, through which the lit lamps inside stay visible. The metal carries a satin brass plating — matt, with no mirror shine.
The fitting is protection class II, so the connection needs no earth conductor. The manufacturer covers it with a two-year warranty.
