The NUMINOS DL L is a round recessed ceiling downlight with an outer diameter of 13 cm. A white trim ring surrounds the mirrored chrome reflector, and the finned aluminium body carries the heat away from the LED module. Once installed, only 0,5 cm of the rim sits below the ceiling line.

Cut-out size and space above the ceiling

The downlight drops into a round cut-out of 11,7 cm and needs 9 cm of clear space above the ceiling board. Check that second figure on site before you cut — in a suspended ceiling it is set by the gap between the board and the structural slab.

Two spring clips hold the body: fold them along the housing, push the downlight into the opening and release. It weighs 0,465 kg and hangs on those springs alone, with no separate suspension. The maker specifies it for indoor use at ambient temperatures from -20 to 40 degrees Celsius.

The driver is bought separately

This is a safety class III fitting running on a 700 mA constant current — it is not wired straight to 230 V. No LED driver is supplied, so one has to be chosen separately; SLV lists 1004062 (21-29,5 W, 500/600/700 mA) and 1004065 (30 W, 700 mA) for it.

Dimming depends on that driver too: the 1004070 and 1006460 versions work over DALI, while on a plain constant-current driver the downlight runs at full output. The lead ends in a plug, so the connection is made without opening the housing.

The light it gives

The LED module draws 25,41 W and delivers 2200 lm at 3000 K, a warm white close to incandescent light. That output is enough for a single downlight to light the area beneath it as general lighting rather than as an accent.

The beam is 55 degrees with a rotationally symmetric distribution, so the pool of light is circular. Ra 90 means faithful colour, which matters over a worktop, at a mirror and anywhere fabric shades are judged. The glare rating UGR stays at or below 19, the figure required at office workstations. The beam can be softened with the separately sold NUMINOS L diffusers, prismatic 1004795 or frosted 1004796.

The light source cannot be replaced, as the LED is built in permanently. The maker quotes 50 000 hours to a drop to 80 percent of the initial output.
