The small Ripley by Kichler is an outdoor LED wall lantern in Olde Bronze: a dark, aged bronze with a brass sheen along the edges of the shade and plate. The flat conical shade hangs from a straight arm propped by a diagonal rod. It is supplied by Elstead Lighting.
Size
The lantern measures 19.1 cm high, 20.3 cm across the shade and 23.5 cm deep from the wall; it weighs 0.7 kg. It is the smallest version in the range — the medium Ripley is about 5 cm wider and taller — so when choosing between them, mark both sizes on the wall where it will go.
Fitting it outdoors
The aluminium housing is rated IP44 — splashes from any side do it no harm — and it is intended for facades and gardens. It is a Class I fitting and must be connected to earth.
Light aimed downwards
The source is a built-in 8 W LED module giving 813 lm, comparable with an old 60 W bulb. 3000 K gives a warm white and CRI 93 true colours. The cone of the shade is solid, so light falls only downwards; the manufacturer notes the lantern follows DarkSky principles that curb sky glow over built-up areas. The LED is not replaceable, and the Polish data sheet lists the lantern as dimmable.
Style
The manufacturer describes Ripley as craftsman style reduced to minimal forms. Bronze with a brass glint gives that simple body a warmer, more traditional look than black.
