Shapes 27 Brass pendant lamp by Nordlux

Shapes 27 is a Nordlux pendant from the Design For The People collection, designed by Maria Berntsen. Its opal glass shade sits beneath an elongated, open metal loop in a shiny brass finish, with a black cable leading up to the ceiling canopy. The vertical arrangement has one light source rather than the branching structure of a chandelier.

Asymmetric glass and a replaceable bulb

The mouth-blown shade has a slightly irregular outline rather than a perfectly spherical profile. This distinction, together with the long metal oval, gives the fitting a recognisable shape even when switched off. Opal glass diffuses the light instead of exposing the bulb directly. The restrained pairing of curved metal and milky glass suits modern and Scandinavian interiors where the pendant remains part of the visible composition.

A single E27 socket accepts a bulb rated at no more than 15 W. No bulb is included, so brightness and colour temperature are choices to make separately. The wattage is a bulb limit, not a fixed power consumption for the fitting. Dimming requires a dimmable bulb and compatible control equipment; the socket alone does not determine that compatibility.

Allow space for the complete pendant body

The body is 60.5 cm high, while the shade measures 27 cm in diameter and 22 cm in height. Allow room for the loop above the glass as well as the shade itself. Compare these dimensions with the ceiling-to-table distance and the clearance needed where people pass beside the installation.

The black textile-covered cable is 300 cm long. Cable length is not the same as the overall installed height. The canopy dimension is 11.5 cm, which is also worth considering when locating the ceiling connection.

Placement for diffused rather than focused light

Shapes 27 can provide decorative lighting above a dining table, in a living area or in a bedroom. The same type of placement can work in hotel interiors and restaurants. Its glass shade does not act as a narrow-beam spotlight, so assess the light needed on the table with the selected bulb in mind.

The manufacturer specifies indoor use and installation according to the mounting instructions. This model is not suitable for hook suspension, and its cable is not replaceable. Check those requirements against the prepared ceiling point before choosing the final position.
