Sylvia is a wall light from Alora Mood, distributed in Europe by Elstead Lighting. A thin steel rod leaves a round wall plate, bends and rises to a lampholder set in a clear glass bowl that opens upwards. The steel is finished in matte black, a strong contrast with the see-through shade.
Size and mounting
The light is 29.2 cm high and 12.7 cm wide and projects 14.6 cm from the wall. With that projection it fits a narrow hallway or the wall beside a bed without reaching into the walkway — just compare it with the width of your own corridor. It weighs 0.6 kg. The fitting is Class I and must be connected to an earth conductor.
Bulb and light
There is one E14 lampholder for a bulb of up to 40 W; the bulb is not included. The glass bowl is open and clear, so the bulb rises above its rim and is fully visible — its shape and finish are part of the look. The manufacturer's photos show a milky globe, which glares less at eye level than a clear filament bulb.
The wall light works with dimmable bulbs: dimming needs a dimmable E14 bulb and a dimmer switch.
Where it works
The manufacturer intends Sylvia as secondary lighting for entrances, hallways and bedrooms, and the room-set photo shows a pair framing a picture above a banquette at a dining table. The black graphic line of the rod and the geometric bowl give it a modern character. The same range includes a brushed gold version.
