A flat smoked-glass disc instead of a conventional shade

The Zambelis 25142 rests on a single idea: a 30 cm wide, remarkably flat disc of smoked grey glass. Rather than trapping the light inside a shade, the fixture spreads it across the glass, which behaves like a soft reflector. At just 12 cm tall the body all but disappears when seen from the side, and switches on into a warmly glowing ring.

Matt black, aluminium and an opal cylinder at the centre

A metal dish in sandy matt black forms the top, and beneath it sits a cylinder of white opal acrylic housing the LED module. Metal, aluminium, acrylic and glass make for a rigid, stable build even though the pendant reads as very light. The canopy measures 13 cm across and 3 cm deep, and the 200 cm black fabric cable can be shortened during installation to whatever drop you need.

965 lumens of warm 3000 K light

The built-in 10 W LED module puts out 965 lumens at 3000 K — an output that suits a dining table, a seating area, or a run of two or three units above a kitchen counter. A colour rendering index of CRI 80 and colour binning of SDCM below 1 mean that separate units light in the same tone, which matters the moment you hang them side by side. Distribution is a full 360° sphere: part of the output falls onto the surface below, part bounces off the glass disc and lifts the ceiling.

TRIAC dimming and wiring

The luminaire is ready for dimming with an ordinary TRIAC (leading-edge) dimmer fitted in place of the wall switch — the dimmer itself is not supplied. It runs on 220–240 V at 50/60 Hz, draws 300 mA, and is a class I fitting, so it needs an earth connection. IP20 protection restricts it to dry indoor rooms.

Where it works

A 30 cm diameter is genuinely versatile: one unit over a round table or in a living-room seating area, two or three in a line above a kitchen island or a long worktop. The flat profile keeps sightlines clear and never feels heavy, even under a low ceiling. Warm 3000 K also earns its place in hotels and restaurants, where a calm, intimate mood is the point.
