Aldex Melos Mustard ceiling and wall light, mustard yellow, E27 808PL_G14

Aldex Melos Mustard 808PL_G14 is a mustard-yellow metal light that can be fitted to either a ceiling or a wall. Its broad, shallow shade connects to the mounting base through slender articulated arms. Three movable joints let you alter the arm arrangement and the direction of light. A single E27 socket takes a replaceable bulb rather than an integrated LED module.

Position the shade, not just the mounting point

The choice of wall or ceiling installation helps accommodate different room layouts. Unlike a close-fitting ceiling light, Melos has a visible arm structure that extends away from its base. The shade can sit to one side of the fixing point, while the exposed joints remain part of the light's appearance.

The manufacturer lists a width of 50 cm, height of 95 cm and depth of 37 cm, with a shade diameter of 36.5 cm. Check the space needed for the whole assembly in your intended position, rather than considering only the base. For wall mounting, compare the projection of the arms and shade with nearby furniture and the route through the room.

Choose the light through the bulb

The fitting accepts one E27 LED bulb rated at no more than 15 W. Brightness and colour temperature depend on the bulb you select, so consider these separately for dining, desk work or reading. The metal shade is open underneath, leaving the bulb visible from the illuminated side.

The installation guide shows fixing to the surface, connecting the wiring and screwing in the bulb. Electrical installation should be carried out by a qualified person with the power supply disconnected.

A mustard finish with exposed joints

The angular arms and shallow shade suit industrial and modern interiors, while the mustard finish can also complement retro furnishings. The manufacturer identifies living rooms, hallways, kitchens and home offices as suitable settings. In a dining room or bedroom, use the adjustable arrangement to address a particular area rather than assuming that one directed shade will light the whole room evenly.
