Argon ABBANO 8048 Wall Light E27, white velour shade, brushed brass

The ABBANO 8048 is a single-light wall fitting: a white velour drum shade 200 mm across sits on a brushed brass arm led out from a flat wall plate. A short stem with a sleeve at its end shows below the shade.

How much wall it takes

The fitting is 320 mm tall and stands 260 mm out from the wall — a figure to compare with the width of the walkway beside a sofa or the distance from the edge of a bed. The wall plate itself is small: 155 mm tall, 70 mm wide and 30 mm thick, so taking the lamp down leaves a palm-sized mark. Net weight is 0,7 kg.

Which bulb to buy for it

There is one E27 lampholder and no bulb in the box. The manufacturer gives a 15 W maximum and crosses out the incandescent lamp on the installation card — only LED sources are permitted.

The size limit matters more: the card states a maximum lamp envelope of 50 mm diameter and 105 mm length. A standard A60 pear is 60 mm across and about 110 mm long, so it will not fit — a slimmer LED lamp is needed. The card also shows dimmer compatibility, which requires a bulb marked as dimmable.

Mounting and supply

The fitting is Class I, so the supply needs a PE protective conductor — on an installation without earthing, check this before mounting. IP20 means dry interiors only. The manufacturer allows a switch to be fitted in the wall plate, so the lamp can be switched at the fitting itself rather than only from the wall switch.
