Brinley is a Kichler pendant distributed by Elstead Lighting: six clear glass shades shaped like canning jars, each on its own cord, gathered in a cluster beneath one round ceiling canopy. Each shade sits in a steel band with a bail handle finished in brushed brass.
Dimensions and hanging height
The cluster of shades is 30.5 cm in diameter and 19.7 cm tall. The cords are 260 cm long and the overall drop can be set from 25.6 to 287 cm — from a cluster pulled up almost to the ceiling to one hanging 70–80 cm above a tabletop in a tall room. The canopy is 14.6 cm in diameter, a figure to compare with the junction box in your ceiling.
According to the maker, the shades can be drawn closer together if required. The photos show both arrangements: cords falling straight down, and cords gathered by a ring so that the shades splay outwards. The pendant weighs 4.3 kg and is Class I, so it must be connected to an earth conductor.
Lamps and light
The fitting takes six E27 lamps of up to 60 W each; lamps are not included. The glass is clear, so the lamp stays visible and its shape becomes part of the look — decorative filament lamps suit a shade like this. Six sources give plenty of light from a single point, and with 2700 K lamps it will be warm and slightly yellowish. The pendant is compatible with dimmable lamps: to adjust brightness you need dimmable lamps and a dimmer.
Construction and where it goes
The frame is steel and the shades are clear glass. The maker describes the jar motif and brass bands as a vintage style. The pendant is for indoor use, above a dining table. The Brinley series also includes one- and three-light versions, a wall light and a flush ceiling light, as well as brushed nickel and Olde Bronze finishes.
