CAIRO 1-light wall light, Urban Bronze, clear ribbed glass, E27 - QUINTIESSE

Cairo is an upright wall light with a shade shaped as an elongated, sharply pointed prism, built from panes of clear ribbed glass in a steel frame. The frame and the round back plate are finished in Urban Bronze – a dark bronze with a warmer sheen along the edges. The collection was designed by American designer Elisa Carlucci for the Alora brand, inspired by the glass pyramid of the Louvre.

Size and installation

The light is 38.5 cm tall, 9.5 cm wide and projects only 10.5 cm from the wall – shallow enough for the space beside a door or along a corridor, where a deeper fitting would get in the way.

It is hard-wired to the 230 V mains, with no plug. As a class I fitting it needs an earth conductor connected, so installation is a job for an electrician.

Bulb and light

There is one E27 lampholder for a bulb of up to 60 W. No bulb is included – you buy it separately and choose the colour and brightness yourself; 2700–3000 K is the usual choice for a living room or bedroom. The ribbed glass is clear, so the bulb remains visible as a soft, vertically striped glow, which means its shape affects how the light looks.

It can be dimmed if you use a bulb marked as dimmable together with a suitable dimmer – the fitting itself has no built-in control.

Which interiors it suits

The manufacturer describes Cairo as modern yet classic: a sharp geometric form paired with dark metal and glass, in the modern classic manner. It works in living rooms, bedrooms and dining rooms, in hallways and in a home study or office, and it is intended for interior use only.
