CALACA LE44766 is a wall light shaped as a horizontal bar 62 cm long. The lit part is an aluminium profile in gold, carried on a black square base 10 cm on a side. The LED is built in permanently and the diffuser runs along the underside of the profile.
How much wall it takes
The fitting measures 62 cm across and 10 cm high, so it occupies a strip of wall about half the width of an ordinary picture above a sofa. It stands 5 cm off the wall and the base itself is 2.5 cm deep – a figure to compare with the clearance beside a piece of furniture or the depth of a recess.
The profile is 3 cm high and the fitting mounts through the black 10 × 10 cm base screwed to the wall. The manufacturer's card gives 230 V, so it goes onto an ordinary wall outlet.
How much light it gives, and what colour
The built-in LED module draws 8 W and gives 268 lm at 3000 K, warm white light. 268 lm is about a third of what an old 60 W bulb produced, so this is accent light: it lifts a picture, a recess or the wall behind a sofa, but it will not light a whole room.
The source cannot be changed: the diode is integrated into the profile, so at the end of its life the whole fitting is replaced. In exchange there is no bulb to buy – it lights as soon as it is wired in.
Where it may be hung
The IP20 rating allows dry interiors only – a shower area, a terrace and a facade are out. A horizontal bar with the diffuser facing down works best above a picture, above the sofa in a living room, above the bed in a bedroom and in a hallway, where the long band of light carries the eye along the wall.
The CALACA series offers the same gold-and-black profile as a pendant too, so the wall and suspended versions can be matched in one room.
